Terms of Service

Plain language. No legalese. Here's what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

✅ Acceptance of Terms

By using MagicBin, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. That's it — no dark patterns, no hidden clauses buried in footnotes.

⚙️ The Service

MagicBin provides a zero-knowledge encrypted pastebin. You create a paste, we store an encrypted blob, you share the link. We cannot read what you paste.

The service runs on third-party Canadian cloud infrastructure. While the MagicBin application does not log your IP or activity, the hosting provider operates standard network and access logging at the infrastructure level, subject to their own policies and Canadian law.

The service is provided as-is, for free, with no uptime guarantees. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. Pastes are ephemeral — do not rely on MagicBin as permanent storage for anything important.

The service is delivered via third-party DNS, proxy, and hosting infrastructure. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. By using MagicBin, you acknowledge that traffic metadata passes through a US-based network proxy, which may be subject to US law.

A note on personal data: While paste content is encrypted end-to-end, a pastebin is not the right tool for transmitting credit card numbers, social insurance numbers, health records, or similar high-value personal data. Encryption protects the content from us — it does not protect you from sending a link to the wrong person. Use a dedicated secrets manager or secure file transfer tool for sensitive PII.

You may use MagicBin for any lawful purpose. Common uses include sharing credentials securely, sending sensitive configuration, or passing confidential notes. We don't monitor content and have no way to read it.

    Malware distributionDo not use MagicBin as a vector for distributing malicious code, exploits, or phishing material.

    Service abuseDo not attempt to overwhelm, attack, or reverse-engineer the service infrastructure.
Note on enforcement: MagicBin has no admin backend or tooling to access, retrieve, or remove paste content. We cannot decrypt content, identify users, or respond to takedown requests targeting paste contents. If you are aware of illegal activity involving this service, contact Canadian law enforcement directly.
⚠️ No Warranty

MagicBin is provided "as-is" and "as-available" without warranty of any kind. We make no representations about uptime, reliability, data retention beyond the stated expiry, or fitness for any particular purpose.

While we have made every reasonable effort to implement strong encryption and sound infrastructure, no software system can guarantee absolute security. You use this service at your own risk.

⚖️ Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Canadian law, MagicBin and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of access to a paste, or any business disruption.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of MagicBin shall not exceed zero dollars, as the service is provided free of charge.

You retain full ownership of anything you paste. By submitting content, you grant us no licence to it — we cannot even read it. We assert no intellectual property rights over your paste content.

We do hold rights to the MagicBin software, design, and branding. Please don't reproduce them without permission.

🇨🇦 Governing Law

These terms are governed by Canadian federal law. MagicBin is operated from Canada, with data residing on Canadian soil. Any disputes relating to MagicBin's operations shall be resolved under Canadian federal law, which supersedes provincial legislation.

Our DNS and proxy provider is a US-based company. Their handling of traffic metadata is governed by their own terms and applicable US law, separate from these terms.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

📝 Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect when they were last revised. Continued use of MagicBin after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
